I'd hire a private company to examine my phones and tell Mueller that there was nothing of note on said phone, but they didn't need to see the phone itself.

Given your endless faith in the government, you'd have probably thanked the Inquisition for the privilege of being tortured.

Really, what was your opinion on Hillary not turning over her computer or deliberately distorying over 30,000 supeneada emails. Are what about the DNC server that was claimed to be hacked by Russia which is a large part of this bull shite Muh Russia conspiracy that was never turned over the the FBI. Let’s heat it brother, chime on in.

Let's see your receipt for the new phone. Also, phone records would do you in.

Crowdstrike imaged them. This really is what happens during hacks

Perhaps, but in an investigation it isn't customary to just trust the target. FBI didn't image them.

BURR: And the FBI in this case, unlike other cases that you might investigate, did you ever have access to the actual hardware that was hacked, or did you have to rely on a third party to provide you the day that that they had collected?

COMEY: In the case of the DNC, and I believe the D triple C, but I'm sure the DNC, we did not have access to the devices themselves. We got relevant forensic information from a private party, a high class entity, that had done the work but we didn't get direct access.

BURR: But no content.

COMEY: Correct.

BURR: Isn't content an important part of the forensics from a counter-intelligence standpoint?

COMEY: It is but what was briefed to me by the people who were my folks at the time is that they had gotten the information from the private party that they needed to understand the intrusion by the spring of 2016.

Seems like a non-issue.

Non issue if you trust the dnc to give the third party the correct equipment and you trust the private party to accurately image it. Not customary to trust a target. You know that. Would you or Mueller object to a third party imaging the phones and handing it over? Never giving Mieller the actual phones?

I believe the gov had worked with CrowdStrike on prior occasions. They are a highly respected firm. Even the Trump campaign used them. Another non-issue IMO.

Doesn't matter. Requires you to trust the target. Again. Would you be ok if the phones mueller requested never got to him?

Mr Manafort ,

Is there some unknown reason why you wouldn’t use a backup of your previous phone to transfer your information to the new phone?

What target? Good point. It required the FBI to trust the DNC. Not the most prudent move. And certainly not one that would be expected in an investigation. What is the reasoning for the DNC to withhold the servers? Would you be ok with the phones Mueller asked for never making it to him...but third party images instead?

This dumb shite is trying to keep a (well paying) job. He needs to shite or get off the pot. He's entertainment for the Democratic Underground type person.

If we had a DA worth his salt RM would be waste-paper in the bin of history by now.

I think the situations are different. The DNC was the victim of a crime. It's not uncommon for private firms to do the incident response then hand over the appropriate data to authorities. I haven't seen anything to suggest the FBI never got what they needed.

The DNC were perpetrators of a crime. Let's get that straight before we go any further, shall we?

Yeah, I'll need to see a court order for that...and while you're running that through I'll go ahead and sanitize the phone.

Oh wait, you require the password? My phone is biometrically locked so you'll need another court order for me to appear in person.

I'm sorry, but no one could possibly be THIS F*CKING NAIVE AND COMPLETELY F*CKING IGNORANT at the same time. It's absof*ckinglutely impossible.

No, they're not. They were bought and paid for DNC operatives.

Show me any other case where the FBI used this firm to the exclusion of its own forensic experts. ANY case.

And then the "authorities" laugh at it, dispose of it, and performs their own analysis. From a legal standpoint, it is completely inadmissible and risks the entire case being dismissed because of a break in the chain of custody.
