Well, if you work as an employee, your employer withholds taxes and pays them. So you don’t control that. Also, you can get liens on your home, bank accounts and retirement funds. So, why don’t you try it and let us know how it works out.

Why is she an idiot she’s giving you a real way of civil disobedience people should be refusing to vote and refusing to pay taxes.
If she will pay my fines or do my time in prison, I'll gladly avoid taxes.

This sounds good in theory, but not possible in practice.
Most people’s employers take the FICA taxes out automatically and you have no say in the matter.
You can withhold much or all of your federal income taxes though.

The problem is most people work for companies that remove taxes from their paychecks so it's almost impossible for the people to keep their money from going to the government with their employers as the middle man.
Remove the employer as the middle man then the government will feel it.
Aside from FICA taxes the other amounts (generally) withheld are what is specified by the employee on their W-4s, so employees could alter what’s withheld via the employer to pay to the government.
Perhaps it would be better if the employees were responsible for making those payments, because then people would pay more attention to “their” money being sent to the government. The problem with that is the government knows it would be much more challenging to keep people accountable to what they “owe” the government!

They will just print up more money.
There is no such thing as an unbalanced budget. It gets paid for one way or another.

I beat her to it.
Last paycheck, I didn't pay any taxes.
Then again, being a furloughed FedGov employee, I had NO INCOME on which to pay them.
A week from today, I'll (likely) do it again.
