Just got home from my local American legion that celebrated its 100th Anniversary. The post commander is my great uncle, and I was recognized with my father, grandfather, and grandmother for 3 generations of Marines.

It started off outside in the heat with unveiling a monument with bricks of all service members from the community, bordered by bricks of the 79 original founders of the post. All in attendance stood for the national anthem, then said the pledge. It then went indoors for speakers, myself being one of them, and closing with the song Proud to be an American.

We get lost every day in politics, but we still have great Americans out there upholding tradition, pride, and the love of our country that was provided by the few.

May GOD bless you and your other generations of Marines, patriot!

Your service is not unappreciated, regardless of the political climate we live in. Some of us still are grateful and forever in your debt.

We celebrated ours last Saturday with a memorial service at the first State Commander's graveside. Patriotic, humbling, and thankful for America's oldest Veterans organization. Local media was in attendance as well.

Thank you for your service Comrade... and thanks to all that served and those that continue to promote Americanism through American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVETS, VVA, etc.
