I'm responding to this sentence specifically.

quote:

Most are ignorant of history but these were the types of books the NSDAP were burning.

That is decidedly not the case and is historically inaccurate. The actual book the mom is talking about I have no interest in defending. Localities can make the decision for themselves.

I’m honestly curious why atheists do this.

If they acknowledge the existence of God, then they're also implicitly acknowledging that they aren't the smartest guy in the room.

But those types of experiments continued for a long time. It was only after the experiment was done and often several years later that ethical questions arose.

mengele's experiments were continued for a long time? ethical questions about his experiments arose years later?

It's almost always a response to some bullshite claim of superior, objective morality.

Anyone who can't defend their views without invoking their religion is arguing from a weak position and should be subject to critical feedback.

Why do you feel it necessary to critique his beliefs?
You have read this thread, and you know that I did not raise the issue. He raised it and threw it in my face. Basically, he said that I am inherently a liar because I do not share his religious belief system. Yes, I responded to that idiocy.

I do not recall EVER being the first to raise the issue, excepting only when someone starts a (prohibited) proselytization thread on a Politics forum.

No dumbass, studies without informed consent, or studies on human subjects who did not know they were being experimented on.

Yes. One example is the Three Christs of Ypsilanti, where the lead researcher later admitted he would not have done the experiment if he could do it over again. There are more examples too, but alas I think they would be wasted on you.

In fairness, some of the books banned by the Nazis were indeed sexually-themed.

It was a tiny fraction of the banned books, but it did exist.

Our boy Strannix, however, presented the issue is if those were the only books that the Nazi were banning … implicitly defending the book burning as something moral and virtuous.

And obviously don't have the sufficient education in the history of 20th century medical science to understand what I was referring to. Nicely done dumbass.

I have not read the thread.

I will. Maybe my questions will be answered. Maybe not.

Incorrect.

Present me with objective, verifiable fact, and I will certainly accept it.

But I am NOT accepting superstitious, nonsensical mythology “on faith,” any more than you are going to accept the Norse pantheon as ruling the world from Asgard.

Of course, but their censorship practices were expansive, and really not relatable to the modern-day, particularly because of the digitization of the medium, which obviates the need to have a central locations for books other than in libraries.

Nah, that's just Strannix's favorite defense when he can't answer extremely simple questions. It's revealing that you think it's true. Maybe if you weren't operating in bad-faith, I'd list several more examples post-1960, but I don't think you are interested in learning.
