More ships in Venezuela at risk of seizure

Dozens of tankers are transporting American-sanctioned oil off the coast of Venezuela, raising the possibility of further seizures after the U.S. captured an oil tanker in the Caribbean on Wednesday.
More than 80 vessels loaded or waiting to load oil were in Venezuelan waters or near its coast as of Wednesday, including more than 30 under U.S. sanctions, according to Reuters.

Key Reasons for the Seizure
• Involvement in Illicit Oil Smuggling Networks: The tanker had been U.S.-sanctioned since 2022 due to its role in an international network facilitating the transport of sanctioned Iranian oil, which generated revenue for foreign terrorist organizations, including Hezbollah and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)-Quds Force. U.S. officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, described the vessel as part of a broader “illicit oil shipping network” that evaded sanctions and supported these groups.
• Transport of Sanctioned Venezuelan Oil: At the time of seizure, The Skipper was carrying approximately 1.8 million barrels of Venezuela’s heavy Merey crude oil, loaded at the port of Jose between December 4 and 5, 2025. This violated U.S. sanctions aimed at crippling Maduro’s regime by restricting its primary revenue source—oil exports, which averaged over 900,000 barrels per day in November 2025.
• Evasion Tactics: The ship was broadcasting falsified location data to conceal its movements, had loitered near Iran’s coast earlier in 2025, and was falsely flying a Guyanese flag despite not being registered there. It appeared headed to Cuba as an intermediary stop before onward shipment to Asia.

Let's play a game of what will we do with all of the oil we seize...
Do we take the oil and replenish our strategic reserves?
Do we use the monies to pay down other debts?

I remember when I worked for an oil company and came to work one day to hear Venezuela had seized two of our rigs and handed them over to their state oil producer. International news. Typical Hugo Chavez.
Don't feel bad about this at all.

One maybe two subs. They turn around whoever is left. The waters of the Americas are well suited in the extreme to monitor guest I promise you.
