After the other night, I'd imagine this Scully guy is shitting his pants about now. Maybe he will get the covid a couple of days before the debate if he knows what's good for him.

Maybe a better question is why are people putting up with the corruption that is open and right in our faces? Seems like corruption is just normal behavior and completely acceptable.

Wrong. Trump won in spite of Wallace. Just because you, and most people, loathe his tactics doesn’t mean he didn’t win.

I have always wondered how people like you exist every day being gullible enough to believe the propaganda that Sleepy Joe Biden, Pocahontas Harris, and CNN shoves down yall's throats.

Might as well put a bullseye across him as well as he is Trumps next victim.

Yep. Trump will make sure to call him out on it during the debate.

Why is Trump agreeing to this?

He shouldn't have...but the worst is that he likely won't point it out right off the bat when the debate begins. Most Americans hate unfair play and they don't like open cheaters. But they also have no idea of this.

Trump should get it out in the open at the start:

"Steve...before we begin, I wanted to let the American people know that you got started in politics as my opponent's intern. I think that's an obvious conflict of interest, and I wanted to let everyone know that up front so they can consider that when they see how you treat both myself and the Vice President. And in case anyone thinks this is not a problem, imagine if sitting in your place was someone who had interned for ME 30 years ago and how ballistic the press would have gone? Does anyone want to pretend that heads would have exploded had I attempted such a thing? When conservatives talk about a double standard in the press corps, this is exactly what we're talking about. Now...yes, once again...I denounce white supremacists..."

It’s like the media isn’t even trying.

I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point Trump calls him out and says, “Hell, Steve, you used to work for Joe.”

He may be going along with this so he can make his point about fake news & media bias.

Thanks.

But it's ridiculous that not only does this continue to happen, but it's worse that we pretend that most Americans know these things. People that follow politics closely do, but most don't.

I mean, in 2020, do MOST Americans know that George Stephanopoulos worked on Dukakis's '88 campaign and then was part of Team Clinton in '92 and was essentially the press secretary early on in the first term? Why are we pretending this is some "journalist" that is nonpartisan enough to moderate a god damned town hall meeting with a sitting Republican President up for reelection? Who agrees to that nonsense, and who then does not take a moment to point it out to everyone watching to remind them who the "journalist" is, what he believes, and that he's a partisan political animal?

And Trump will do it again in the second debate? Makes no sense.

The only way I'd agree to this is to EVERY DAMN TIME take a portion of the time to publicly call them out on their past affiliations so that the public at least has a fighting chance to know what's going on.

Democrats used to be fond of the term "the appearance of impropriety" in regards to needing investigations into things where there was little evidence of wrongdoing but merely the possibility there could be some. How is continually being probed by democrats pretending to be nonpartisans not give the appearance of impropriety?

There are still rare journalists that can be impartial, and I'll give this guy the benefit of the doubt for now. I don't really know his work because I don't watch CSPAN, whereas with Wallace I knew what he was before the debate started. I do think the optics, though, are bad, and he should probably disclose that information to the audience before the debate starts.

Well...you're a BAMA fan, so this would be an easy leap for you to make. It's the same argument you fellas make when the rest of the SEC complains about bias within the SEC offices or that the literally head of officials had for years been a BAMA grad.

I'm just playing around...I honestly don't care anymore what happens at the SEC offices. That's a bonus of giving all this up...

I tend to agree. From what I've read about him, he has a reputation for being fair and impartial. I hope this holds true.

Regardless, I think Trump will prevail no matter who the moderator is, and for him to object now would risk the likelihood of this debate or any others.

This is bullshite and a conflict of interest. Trump needs to immediately call for the moderator to be replaced.

Can't really object now, the moderators were picked at the end of August and Trump approved the selection.
