If you didn't watch this game or go through that Olympic cycle, I cannot adequately describe in words what happened.
I watched the whole thing on TV. It was not live. It was on time delay due to the time difference. There was no Internet so the network was very careful not to disclose the score. I remember Jim McCay with a straight face saying 'The broadcast of the entire game will start in 'x' hours. Since it is tape delay we will not reveal the score.'
Edit: Often missed by some. It was not the gold medal game. USA had to win the finals for the gold.
Jim McCay was great.

I was living in upstate NY at the time and was in high school. I got to see that team play twice, in person. The first time was an exhibition against the minor league team from Glens Falls, where I lived. Team USA lost by a score of 1-0, or 2-1. They looked terrible on offense, but you could tell that Jim Craig was their best player. They would have been slaughtered if he hadn't made some unbelievable plays.
The other game was during the Olympics. It was the only game I could go to because it was on a Saturday, and I had basketball practice after school during the week. If I recall, Norway scored the first goal, and then the USA shut them out the rest of the way and scored a bunch of goals.
I didn't know how huge it was to be able to watch that team, because at the time, nobody gave us a chance to beat the Soviet Union.

Until the right begins getting just as nasty to the left as they are to us. This type BS will continue.
Have you seen how miserable the left/liberals/Dems are in general?
I'm not sure I want sign up for that mindset.

One of my most prized possessions is an autographed jersey from 1980 with the entire team and Herb Brooks signature.
