WASHINGTON – Minnesota Republican Brad Finstad was sworn in Friday as the newest member of the U.S. House, giving the GOP one more seat, which means Democrats can't afford to lose more than four votes on close issues like their flagship climate change and health care bill.

Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi held a ceremonial photo op afterward with a smiling Finstad, who was surrounded by members of his large family, including his wife, Jackie, and their seven children.

“It's a special day for us to welcome a new member of Congress, Mr. Finstad, and his beautiful family,” Pelosi said. “As I said to the children, what we do is all about them, all about the future."

It appears there was no child pushing by Drunk Nancy this go-round

Congrats Brad!

Always reminding the civil servants they are being watched and, for many sadly, extorted.

I just looked him up and apparently he has to have another election in only 4 months because this was a special election. They should either let the spot remain vacant until November or have the special election continue the full term. Such a waste of money to have two elections that close together.

ETA: And its against the same guy again
So they are just having a rematch 4 months later.

quote:

Finstad will face a quick rematch in November for a full term against his Democratic opponent, former Hormel Foods CEO Jeff Ettinger, who came within 4 percentage points of winning Tuesday in their Republican-leaning southern Minnesota district.

Louisiana has several elections each year. In addition to November there's the Sneak a Millage Past election held on a fall Saturday with an LSU home game. There are the runoffs scheduled during the Christmas season in December and at least one scheduled in the spring with little to no notice...again for sneaking previously rejected tax hikes past the unaware populace.

I don’t get caught up with loving/hating celebrities or public figures and any of that stuff like a lot of people my age

But there’s just something about thinking of someone like pelosi being in a position they absolutely hate

it was either Decision Desk HQ or Cook Political Report I saw that put out a tweet saying (and I'm paraphrasing here) Finstad having a tight election night on Tuesday showed the red wave may not be as towering as expected in November

I didn't read the article with the analysis of what made them think that... esp. since Omar had a tougher than expected night at the same time he was
