After taking the required class for my CCL twice, I would say that I don't trust the average citizen that has little to no training. I would hope that people who carry get formal training. Watching and listening to most of the people that were in those classes with me made me realize how little training many gun owners have. That being said, in an active shooter scenario, anything that draws the attention of the shooter or diverts his attention from potential victims will likely save lives. An untrained civilian trying to take out the shooter may cause as much damage or they may not, but they will surely distract the shooter and that usually saves lives.

LOL ^ This dude advocates for cannon fodder out there distracting an active shooter while other people get the frick out of dodge

Only the most retarded Ozark redneck would read that and arrive at that conclusion. Congratulations, you're functionally illiterate.

Yes and No. But don't buy your wife/gf a pink glock and expect her to pull it out of her purse and start returning fire when rounds are coming down range. That shite is not going to go down like that

You'd be shocked at how many military folks can't use a pistol.

The vast majority go to the range once or twice a year, shoot a few targets, go home. Cops are the same, granted they shoot pistols predominantly. Both professions are generally given undeserved credit for their weapons skills.

Not in the Marine Corps. Good shooting is practically a fetish and figures in to your score for enlisted promotion.

Very first day in country at Camp Fallujah January 2005. A few members of my plt were given pump shotguns to sling as secondary weapons. Dude racks the action back and forth, which throws a round in the chamber, and then pulls the trigger inside the frickin tent with 40 people inside. Luckily no one was hurt or killed.

He got NJP'd and busted down from LCpl to Pvt

Had a neighbor who was a cop and always bragged about his 1911 duty weapon. We went to the range and I was kinda worried for him by the time we left. Come to find out, he really only shoots when he has to qualify and apparently their qualifications are a joke.

Or how many have simply never fired at a human target, especially one that fires back. It's a different mindset than being on the firing range.

I can't. We learn how to shoot rifles and belt fed weapons in the Marine Corps.

I maintain that a pistol is really not useful in the Marine Corps. They're accurate for about 10-15 yards (maybe). And there is no reason for us to conceal our weapons

I'm talking about simple use and accurate fire of a pistol at the range. I've seen many that cant do that.

I guy aiming at one bad guy who is aiming at many innocent people versus just the bad guy shooting at the Innocents unimpeded?

You have to think about which you would prefer?

Your feelings don't mean shite to me. Having a gun pointed at you when you have one does not equal run.

Funny how you did not want to make a choice in the scenario I presented.

Not me, even if I wasn't armed (and I don't always go around carrying a handgun) I'd do what I have to do to protect my family, or yours if it came down to it.
