I don't have my finger on CA's political pulse. However, the fact that Prop 16 failed miserably in a year when BLM sympathizers were abundant and had the backing of a liberal who's who ought not to be dismissed.
These are results on par with a conservative state.
Prop 16 was 7.2 MM for, 9.6 MM against, 16.8 MM total.
Basically, 300K Biden voters didn't get that far down the ballot, and another 3.6 MM (about a third) are moderates who still believe in race-neutral government hiring just like they did 25 years ago when they voted for Clinton and 209.
That doesn't seem unreasonable.

Not too hard to believe…Illinois would have been red a couple of times were fraud removed from the equation.
