It's actually pretty smart of him. Considering how slimy the lawyers are for outfits like Fusion, Buzzfeed and the US attorneys, it is likely that by proceeding with the civil case those entities would have corroborated to try and scrounge up material that they otherwise would not have to try and incriminate Cohen.
This decision has nothing to do with Fusion or Buzzfeed as entities.
He simply can't go through discovery on these lawsuits, discovery sure to include questions about the dossier, when he knows what was taken by the Feds flies in the face of his suit. He'll perjure himself if he moves forward against Fusion or Buzzfeed.

You jump at every bit of idiotic news on this stupidity that affects no one. How about some self awareness.

so I can now add "a poster can only comment on a story if it directly affects their life" to Bee's list of rules for the board
this, of course, falls behind
1) old tweets are off limits
2) pointing out hypocrisy is "desperation"

I would state it more like: Buzzfeed's lawyers would've fricked him up and his claim against them was baseless.
Cool. But if he thought that then why did he file suit in the first place.

Maybe we should go back to discussing why Melania isn’t on magazine covers or why SJWs don’t like Chik Fil A. You know, the hard hitting stuff

Yeah, a lifelong attorney for a litigious entity like Trump had no familiarity with the rules of discovery prior to filing his lawsuit. More like why would anyone with a brain open themselves up to attack on two fronts at the same time? Better to close ranks and defend against the side most important. But that common sense reasoning will ring hollow.

When he filed, he didn't know that his office, home, and safety deposit boxes were going to be raided by the FBI.

That's their story. If you buy it, more power to you.

Actually, it's not surprising at all. No criminal defendant wants to allow the prosecution to use a civil suit to circumvent his 5th Amendment rights, which is exactly what would have happened.
Considering the way judges have been fricking this guy to this point, he probably decided that requesting a stay while the criminal prosecution was pending would be pointless.

Why go with the most logical conclusion when there's a convoluted scheme to follow!

Almost like he didn't want to be questioned about his totally lawful and above board activities in the summer of 2016. But that could never be. After all, know he didn't go to Prague or elsewhere in Europe because he showed everyone his passport. And he should be calling on the Southern District of New York's US Attorney to immediately release the files they now hold related to his activity in that time - to exonerate him.
He'd better hope they did not bring counterclaims. He could not get rid of it then, even if he dismisses the principal claims, and he would have to take the Fifth if they depose him.

Knowing the shoe is about to drop on all of Hillary's cronies in the IG investigation, it's a smart move to drop this and save a buck or two.
