The statistic of 54% population doesn't mean that it's apples to apples with other races.
There may not be enough qualified individuals to be police officers.
There was an article about a school here in Alexandria called Country Day. Private school with big tuition, it's like 99% white, Indian(dot not feather) and Asian. The author complained that Alexandria is 50something % black so there is discrimination and racism. However a closer look shows the vast majority of blacks don't earn in the standard income bracket to afford tuition for that school.
Quantity does not correlate to quality.
There may not be enough qualified individuals to be police officers.

Also, I'll add...you ever seen how black officers are treated in some black communities? I've seen drug dealers get more respect in a community than the black officers from that community.
This can be discouraging for young black americans that would make good officers.

Wow. Great point, te. I never imagined something so obvious; but it is the reason, for sure. Kinda like Black Conservatives criticizing the Hood killings; not many are willing to stand the racial peer heat...so they remain out of the action. A real and costly shame.
