I’m not really paying attention to individual categories but I feel overall like things are getting better, in that I have more wiggle room in my checking account and am even starting to save again.

It seems some people are still under the delusion that the government controls prices.

I find Chicken and pork have come down a little.

Here's ^^^ the truth and the problem.

Once Jotato's 25-30% inflation was realized it was permanent for most products and services. There was a price increase of 20-30% on many products and services and those price increases are sticky and likely permanent.

Biggest issue was that drought from 2021 to earlier this year. A lot of ranchers cut their herd sizes out here and it usually takes about 1.5 to 2 years to rebuild sizes.

I'm about to take a break from red meat for awhile. I was at the store Sunday, a three pack of 8 ounce mediocre looking strip steaks were nearly $20. Here is what Google AI says about the KC area price of a 16 oz strip steak..

Im on a carnivore diet. Steak is the main thing I eat.

Guess I’ll start buying my own cow

I still have grass fed beef in the deep freezer but I didn't buy another 1/2 this year.

No, they aren't.

Yes they are. I could get $11 ribeyes from Walmart 4-5 months ago....now $15. Only a fool would blame Trump for it though. This has been years in the making

And people think that has to do with Trump policies? That’s seriously the insinuation?

It’s Trump’s policies and not the malicious and intentional attack on the world cattle and overall farming market for the last 10 years?

It’s not government over regulation making it impossible for the small time local farmer to even exist?

Yea, it’s definitely Trump’s tariffs. You frickin people

As of Jan. 1, the U.S. had 86.7 million cattle and calves, down 8% from the most recent peak in 2019. That is the lowest number of cattle since 1951

no wonder.

Understandable.

As is the case with all agricultural products, livestock and chickens prices, they can fluctuate widely depending on weather and disease.

I don't think KS strip steaks are dropping back down to $6-7/lb but I could see prices drop down to the $8-10 range on sale.

Seems okay to me.

Yeah its time to unleash the market. Knock down all these regulations or at least make them streamlined for smaller farmers/ranchers.

I have never bought a steak from Walmart, but the only steaks I ever see for $11/lb are shitty select steaks. The prices have been steady for me.
