Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Tuesday that he will cancel the August recess, citing "historic obstruction" by Democrats.

“Due to the historic obstruction by Senate Democrats of the president’s nominees, and the goal of passing appropriations bills prior to the end of the fiscal year, the August recess has been canceled," McConnell said in a statement.

I often wonder if politicians from both sides laugh at us when they are in the chamber doing absolutely nothing.

Good, now push a ton of Conservative shite through and head into the midterms on a high note.

Just need McCain to shuffle off this mortal coil so AZ can appoint someone decent to get to November. Questions is, would they?

Won’t matter, they’re going to appoint his wife. The McCain issue will remain at least until 2020

We should be applauding a Congress that does nothing.

As in: does not impair anymore of our freedoms; does not infringe liberties; does not tax and fee us. The more Congress does, the more things get screwed up!

If McConnel follows through on this, it's a huge deal. He knows he is going to get pilloried in the media and calls for it anyway.

It's almost Trumpian in its own way. It may force the media to acknowledge the delay and obstruction by democrats. I don't hold out much hope for that but would be nice to see

I think this is a great move. Cram it in before mid-term.

Is it really a tactic to prevent Trump's potential recess appointments?

Good for him.

Makes it tough for the Dems to go home and campaign as well.
