McClatchy is in chapter 11 bankruptcy and owns 29 newspapers. That includes the Miami Herald, Sacramento Bee and the largest paper in Charlotte.

Chathan asset owns the National enquirer which has been a very pro Trump paper. With Chatham buying McClatchy that gives us 29 more papers that will not be reporting a libtard fake news hate Trump line of bullcrap.

Good news!!!!

The Charlotte Observer has been garbage for years. Unless the new organization cleans house and starts over, it will continue to be garbage.

Gannett has grown a lot in the past few years. Last year they merged with Gatehouse media and own several papers in Louisiana.

The philosophy at Gatehouse was slash and burn the papers to the ground. They laid off staff and made them into a shell of their former selves.

They sold off any property and assets that was tied to the paper and shrunk circulation until some papers folded.

Take for example the Houma Courier. The once proud newspaper for the Houma-Thibodaux area is a shell of its former self. Gatehouse/Gannett sold off its main headquarters, and now operate out of an office near a residential neighborhood. They don’t even print it in Houma. It is now printed in Lafayette where Gannett has the Daily Advertiser. Their paper is just a few pages thick and not as thick as it used to be.

Someone did a story about how Gatehouse has killed small town news.

Here is an AP story about it, ironically on a Gannett owned newspaper before the merger:

Was the National Enquirer ever thought of as a news entity prior to your post?

I just assumed it was an entertainment based magazine.

Conservatives billionaires need to invest in local news. We have Sinclair tv broadcasting but need to buy up local papers, then someone needs to buy one of the major MSM papers

That's right. Rich libertarians also. At the very least there should be a conservative or centrist type publication to act as an alternative like the NY post, Washington times and Boston Herald.

We need newspapers that serve the average American not the ruling elite a-holes.
