McCarthyism...history is repeating itself

During the late 40s and early 50's the US went through a period known as McCarthyism.
What we're seeing happening right now to conservatives is very similar to what happened to those accused of being communists back then. Blacklists, Lost Jobs, Ruined Lives, it all happened back then.
We keep asking ourselves how long the current climate will persist, well the "McCarthy" period lasted almost 10 years. It took years for the courts to correct some of the wrongs that were done.
The irony is that here we are 70 years later and the communists are returning the favor.
Two phrases come to mind:
1) History repeats itself
2) What goes around comes around

The difference this time is that we don’t have a propaganda network in place to scream “McCarthyism!” and “Blackballing!” for decades after the fact.
