The NYT and EVERYBODY else chimed in. I hope you are correct, anything to embarrass the MSM.

Hell, the MYT started it.

Senator John McCain’s inner circle reportedly told the White House they don’t want President Trump to attend the Arizona republican’s eventual funeral.

I'm still skeptical, but this sounds like it was his posse.

I could also seeing this being a lie or embellishment told by the white house, fwiw.

Believe what you want about McCain, but I doubt he's even thinking about the "invite list" (lol) to his own funeral, especially wanting to leak his "not invited" list.

it did originate from the NYTimes so you never know. if the media made it up to feed themselves and the democrats some red meat, you know McCain agrees with it.

you are viewing it wrong. McCain is just a senator but he is so self important he thinks he would get a state funeral on top of a military funeral Flags at half staff...blah blah so POTUS would want to go or POTUS would look real unclassy. so he just uninvited him...

cajunangelle, you’re one of my favorite posters, but the New York Post is a step below the National Enquirer.

I don’t doubt that the McCains would prefer that Trump not attend, but I just can’t see how this conversation would’ve gone down. Telephone call? Email?

“Hello, White House? This is the McCain family. Please don’t attend John’s funeral.”

No way in heck Trump would’ve gone, anyway—if for no other reason than to keep the attention off of him.

Lord knows, I’ve been wrong before.

Just logically speaking, have you ever in your life known somoene to have an invite list to a funeral? EVER?

The NYTimes reported it and the news aggregated to the twitterverse and everywhere else.

McCain doesn't want Trump at funeral, friends tell White House- NBC News

I wish it was fake news but it probably isn't.

Can't wait for the day our President, Lord and master Trump refuses to order flags to be flown at half mast.

McCain wasn NEVER a hero.
He was an internal, government elected, virus, infected by a regime that manipulated his brain when he was caught and tortured.

His entire life was a lie.

No, never politicians look up history though I don't know... I have seen very dysfunctional families from very wealthy to poor have people state that they don't want such n such that is cut out of the will @ the funeral. I have seen kids of a parent not notified until the dad was dead 3 months; (therefore missing their own fathers funeral) so the statutes of limitations took hold so the stepmother could gold dig some more.

If true, it’s unfortunate, for sure.
We should each meet our Maker with a forgiving heart and no regrets.

Regardless, with stories like this one floating, I’d bet McCain is in rough shape.
When his initial diagnosis was announced, I seem to recall multiple physicians predicting that he wouldn’t make it though summer 2018.

McCain is a scumbag and traitor. The world will be a better place when he’s dead. And I’m sure Trump could not care less about not having to waste his time and put on a phony face around the rotting pile of shite.

kind of weird to plan for a funeral while still alive.

Actually you have more options, less emotional money spent, sooooo, I set up mine and my wife's. We will be buried in the Barrancas National Veterans Cemetery, NAS Pensacola

I can see it for world leaders, monarchs, etc.
You can’t have thousands of people trying to cram into a church.
For Mrs. Bush’s recent passing, the family held a memorial the day before the funeral—anyone was welcome to pay his/her respects.
But the funeral was invite-only (I believe they sent 1,400 invites).

But for senators?
Who knows?

Nobody, but this happens to be a story all sides want to believe. Leftists love it as a snub to Trump. Trump supporters love it as evidence that McCain is a tPOS.

Would it be a mailed invite? Evite? Is there a date range or a TBD? "Hey, you're invited to my funeral. It'll be sometime this year most likely so just clear your schedule. No gifts necessary."

I'm starting to wonder if Trump told McCain he'd leave him alone while dealing with the health stuff, but once dead, he destroys McCain's reputation. I hope that's the case.

Seems the Senate could force McCain out at this point.
