If I were Scalise, every time some media agency would stick a microphone in my face and ask me to explain my situation I would respond like this;
" President Obama attended a racist and American hating church for 22 years and he was given a pass by you guys. I expect the same treatment!"
And I would say this over and over and over again each time until the media stopped asking the question because of the obvious hypocritical parallels.

I believe that Scalise remembered speaking at the hotel, before a group, arranged by Knight, and that he immediately sought to practice damage control by apologizing. He thought his staff had not vetted the group and that he indeed had spoken to the Euro group, when in reality it was a neighbourhood association that Knight brought in to use the space ahead of the Duke group.
Politicians speak several times a day to different groups, dozens and dozens of times a year.
Do you think he even remembered the speech until it was brought up?

Do you think he is so incompetent that he puts outs an apology for speaking to a white supremacists group BEFORE he remembers if he was there or not.
when initially confronted, he could have put out a no comment statement.
Instead, he immediately confirmed he was there speaking to the euro group.
So you are saying suddenly today he is mis-remembering?
He either remembered or didn't, and his apology said he did.

I think he admitted he was there - and they were telling him it was a White Supremist group.
Seems like it was no big deal to him - didn't know it was a WS group - said he was sorry if it was - his speech had noting about WS in it. Was not supporting any WS agenda. = was presenting his ideas on tax policy.

I think you need to find a patter to make any kind of conclusion about it.
this seems like a one-off aberration.

I'm saying he remembered speaking to the group when brought up to him, i.e., location, the involvement of Knight.
When he was told that it was White Supremacist group on Monday, he thought his staff had screwed up and not vetted the group.
It's an easy mistake to make.

Are you - with a straight face - telling me that a leader in dukes organization invited him, someone Scalise knew personally and knew what he stood for, went to a meeting NOT knowing it was a white supremacist group?
