No one is choosing to lose the culture war you idiot
Which side of the culture war are you on?
The woke commies who want to bow down to allah, illegal aliens, george floyd, and alex pretti or the MAGA normies who want to leave you alone?
Its one or the other, pick a side.

You can't "win" or "lose" the "culture war"
Culture is not a static thing and changes over time, moving back and forth along multiple spectrums.
Only simpletons think of it in a binary sense.
In the current time, the left is pushing far left and hard against common sense, which is a major threat.
In the future, they want to take it even further, which aligns with your "not a static" idea.
You certainly do lose if you allow them to place their woke nonsense in all facets of your life. The consequences are very real. British-style woke censorship is a very real threat.
quote:
Even if you could consolidate "culture" into a specific time period, you couldn't even get people who broadly agree with your bad rhetoric to agree on which date they'd pick to freeze culture.
People have generally agreed that men can't have babies, ids should be used for elections, and criminals should be locked away. Suddenly, the crazies on the left doesn't believe in any of it. That kind of nonsense needs to be nipped at the bud, but you would rather let it spread.
quote:
You're pivoting from culture, now.
You are bad at this.
try again. That woke extreme far-left censorship is a direct product of woke culture. They go hand in hand.

There has been the expected backlash to this move. Then the right will go too far, and then the left will get a backlash to that. And the world keeps going as it always has.
Now, the net will be more left, because that's what happens in successful societies, but it will largely vacillate among several spectrums.
Go too far in what manner? Its common sense. Thats not extreme. We are simply holding the line against woke nonsense. The left is firm in their push to go far left, which is a major threat. They aim to destroy our backlash. They want a system that is permanently woke. Your "both sides are bad, so let the woke commies win" take is suicidal.
quote:
You create a presumption/argument of permanence, which is the overriding problem with your argument/mindset.
Tell that to a brit in jail over a facebook post. Tell that to Laken riley. Tell that to Iryena Zarutska. These tragedies are the results of your apathy.

the culture wars are a diversion dumbass
You are trying to diminish it by calling it a diversion, but its very real.
Its a 2-front war. The left wants to own you in BOTH of them, but you dont even care because muh principles.

Then why do you keep pivoting to it to avoid discussing the important issues?
They are 2 different discussions. Both important. All of these issues are important.
We seem to agree on some of those issues, so there is nothing for me to pivot from.
Where a discussion could be had is where we might disagree.
Do we even disagree on those 5 other issues?
Your running from the discussion makes that unclear.
Try to clarify this for the board.

True, but in the quest for ideological purity, this dude thinks MAGA is a bigger threat than the commies.

Voted for Ron Paul and Gary Johnson.
I was a “both sides suck” guy.
Then a 2020 red pill came, and I realized I was fricking retarded to not pick a side.
Please find a red pill

But if you want to participate, do better:
Explain how each of those 5 is “rather meaningless”.

More lies.
You bought every narrative about covid and would constantly argue with me defending that narrative talking about how many people were going to die and that it was selfish not to give up our rights for it.
Libertarians/conservatives do not look for government to take away their rights in response to a problem. They are also not the types to buy into narratives. Government is the problem, not the solution.
And you certainly have not changed as even in this thread you gave a classic "better red than dead" argument, aka giving up freedom in exchange for the illusion of security.
This has nothing to do with picking sides and everything to do with political philosophy of which you completely lack.
