His lack of qualifications either in military affairs or in running a large organization or even any in depth knowledge was precisely the point. Trump did not want qualified people in key positions. He wanted yes men who would protect him

The fact that this thread is filled with insults, obfuscation, and deflection, and not details about why Hegseth is qualified, indicates you may have a point.

A cabinet level position's job is to put the Presidents orders and vision into action.
They can disagree in private, and it is well known that Trump seeks this, but to the public they are always pulling in the same direction.
There is no room for 'the resistance' in the White House (or Pentagon, DOJ for that matter). 'the resistance' in either or all is criminal and we no longer have a republic if unelected judges or cabinet positions can usurp the power of the presidency put forth by the states and duly selected (per state) by the people.

Don’t forget “McNamara’s 100,000” aka “McNamara’s Morons.”

I'll bite. What are Kelly and Slotkin asking the military and IC to do? After all, they did address these people directly. Should these individuals make their own legal assessments of every order? Should they refuse to follow orders until an injunction drops? That doesnt make any sense. So what was the point if not to signal to the military that they need not comply?

By a mile. Its been scrubbed from the web, but there used to be a great graphic out there showing the scores of the utterly unqualified yes-men Obama tabbed from academia to run his administration compared to other presidents.
But there's another angle to this. How have so-called "qualified" government administrators worked out for us so far? Isn't the success of the Trump experiment rooted in its lack of "political" experience?

Correct.

(McNamara’s plan) to recruit soldiers who would previously have been below military mental or medical standards. Project 100,000 was initiated by Defense Secretary Robert McNamara in October 1966 to meet the escalating workforce requirements of the U.S. government's involvement in the Vietnam War. According to Hamilton Gregory, author of the book McNamara's Folly: The Use of Low-IQ Troops in the Vietnam War, inductees of the project died at three times the rate of other Americans serving in Vietnam
