A hot spot map would color areas based on a fixed scale, like covid deaths per 1m population. This map, instead, has simply divided the data into thirds. The result is that the colored areas convey absolutely zero information about deaths by location for 95% of the map. Areas with 1,200 deaths per million (Orleans Parish) are colored the same as areas with 0 deaths per million, while areas with 450 deaths per million (Chicago) appear as a yellow "hot spot".

But all the hot spots in 85% of the country still only make up 1/3. So there’s that tiny mitigating detail.

Same goes for population as a whole. That doesn't mitigate anything, it's just the way the population is distributed.

Yes. 1/3 of Covid deaths are distributed among 85% of the population.

I’m actually shocked how well Baltimore did

An area with no international activity?

Or, is this a wry racist comment?

1/3 of ALL deaths are distributed among 85% of the population. What is your point?

When you’re complaining about “everyone else” being wrong, maybe it’s just you that’s wrong?

Think about that

That's what I expected.

Half of all deaths in the country are in the tiny tri-state area (servicing New York City).

Everyone else isn't wrong. Only about 90% of the people who frequent this board are.

Go frick your self. It’s a dem, densely populated area that has shitty leaders. Why do you progs rush to slam the race card down so much? It’s pathetic.

Are you being serious right now or not? It's hard to tell.

Race is a topic on this board every single day. There are 3 threads on the front page about race right now, and that's just from the subject lines. There are 4 more that don't mention race in the subject, but are guaranteed to discuss race in the thread.

Right now it's all about "this is only a big story because the murderer is white and the victim is black", yadda yadda. A whole lot of posters are trying to justify what these guys did.

When it's not about crime, it's about "why are there so many interracial couples on tv? what's the agenda?" type of shite.

Or it's some other crap about how everybody's out to get the white man.

It's a steady stream of this type of shite. It's exhausting.

And then, in typical conservative fashion, project all the focus on race on the left.

So, are you black?

If so, I’d have to say you’re racist!

How’s that make ya feel?

And you’re diverting the topic of the OP

Pretty much par for the course for you libtards

Back to OP of 1/3 COVID deaths in entire country are from New York City area! Another 1/3 from a tiny democrat shithole area in northeast plus Detroit and Chicago shitholes. Then 1/3 from the 99.9% remainder of country!

Why are we shutdown if it’s just killing shithole people or shithole democrats are lieing about their numbers in hopes of being bailed out of course

Dats wha da dimcrat do’s ;-)))))

So how do you explain it?

WTF??
It IS the DEM political ideology being bashed. Not the people.

There was universal support for NYC on 9/11. That was not a result of prog admin foolishness.
ChinCuomo & DeBlasiio screwed this up and put the nation in peril.

Ugh. Come on corky.

The race card meaning calling people racists without evidence.

I do not believe one race to be superior over another.

Wow. It’s amazing that the most densely populated areas have the most deaths.

I’m floored at this revelation
