Eastern Shore of Maryland is the same. On the way to Ocean City/Rehoboth Beach you'll see confederate flags everywhere

Like I said in the part you failed to quote, you will see them if you drive off the main highway. At least that is how I remember it when I lived in the region in the 90's. Which shouldn't be surprising, these were regions that were very sympathetic to the confederacy during the Civil War.
