WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Trump administration is missing another deadline to produce President Donald Trump's tax returns. A top House Democrat says he expects to take the administration to court as early as next week over the matter.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says in a letter Friday that he will not comply with the subpoena from the House Ways and Means Committee for six years of Trump's tax returns because the request "lacks a legitimate legislative purpose."

It’s all fine and dandy until a Democrat gets in and your gay Lindsey Graham will be wetting his pants crying ‘Constitution’ again.

Watch what you wish for because it comes back around.

Is there a law that requires a potus to make his tax returns public?

Obtaining the president’s tax returns is in the Constitution?

Huh, who knew...

You realize “legitimate legislative purpose” is an element of the law, right?

Only if the Chairman if the House Ways and Means Committee requests it. It SHALL be produced by the Treasury Secretary.

If not, Menuchin is breaking the law.

Why cheer that on? All that does is embolden more people to break the law. And when the shoe is on the other foot, it will go the other way.

It’s not you and I vs. each other. It’s fricking us vs. them.

On what legal grounds?

The ‘legitimate legislative purpose’ is a slippery slope that Trump’s lawyers have cooked up to take the power away from the Committee.

Do you want to win the battle and lose the war?

You didn’t answer my question.

On what legal grounds do they get access to his tax returns?

Can the Ways and Means committee obtain the tax returns of anyone or is this situation only applicable to the president?

It's almost as if liberals don't care about minority peoples or people with different beliefs. I almost feel like they are simply using them... so odd...

Let’s dicuss this, you ignorant moron. Congress, if it can prove a legitimate legislative purpose (good luck) can demand the President’s returns. They are bound by law to keep them confidential.

The President also has some powers. In fact, he can demand the returns of every member of congress without the burden of providing a purpose. Additionally, he is not bound by confidentiality. So let’s discuss battle and wars...here is how it plays out:

Everyone’s returns are exchanged. When trumps are leaked, he prosecutes any leaker. His returns are a nothingburger and he laughs.

He then releases any return of any congressperson that has something with even a whiff of shadiness.

You would help yourself immensely if you had even a modicum of understanding of the law. You don’t, yet you still post with such hubris. Typical low-education, low-information Democrat.

I plead ignorance, but are any of the members of congress' returns available for public viewing? Is there a way for us to request to see those?

I still don't see how Trump's returns are relevant to anything except "orange man bad". Imagine how much further and prosperous our country could be if this amount of effort was given to any issue that actually matters to normal citizens?

What exactly do you think his tax returns would tell you?

I don’t agree with the ‘legislative purpose’ requirement.

However, there are clear legislative purposes that Neal is seeking to fulfill in making the request.

In his letter to the IRS commissioner, Neal predominantly grounds his request in oversight authority of the IRS, assessing whether the agency is fulfilling its duty to enforce the laws fairly against President Trump and whether to revise the laws relating to presidential tax duties.

That is as clear as a bell. If the Trump supporters don’t like it, too bad. The shoe will be on the other foot next time.

Like I said, it’s no you vs. me, it’s us vs. them.

"Muh tax returns".

This honestly makes the democrats seem so childish.

C'mon don't you and congress have anything better to do? What a joke this is.
