Sessions is fricking incompetent and should have been fired 6 months ago. Get someone in there that will appoint a special counsel on his first day in office.
The IG isn't going to do shite about FISA abuses, we all know it. The IG will take years and return some stupid report saying he found nothing. Sessions is being a major pussy putting this off on the IG.
Get a real AG in there and let him do work.

But the fact remains that Jeff Sessions still has a lot of friends in the GOP senate that fricking love him and they've already said that they would refuse to confirm a new AG if Sessions is fired or make the process so painful they force Trump to end up appointing someone really watered down that's basically a clone of Rosenstein and Wray.
Lesson here, don't appoint people from the senate, especially if they love him and will do everything they can to protect him from his boss in the President.

Trump made a huge mistake hiring Sessions in the first place, so I guess he has no one to blame but himself here. But, you're right, if he fires him the Senate will refuse to appoint anyone new, thus making Rosenstein the acting AG forever (which he already is anyway).
One thing that's humorous in this whole thing is seeing the NYT defending Sessions when just last year they were saying he was a Russian spy.
