Will it be as off the wall as the Senate committee hearing?

New map was adopted by House Committee amendment:

Amendment 5662

The new map appears at page 8.

I see that District 2 still looks like it was drawn by a 4 year old.

I am certainly not a lawyer and don't claim to be the brightest bulb, but I thought the court said creating a district based on racial makeup was unconstitutional.

So why are they creating this ridiculously shaped district based on race? Couldn't someone sue claiming they created another district based solely on race?

Because the only thing any state has to do to get around that ruling is say "No, its partisan. Race wasn't considered."

And now we're getting "testimonies"

Guess what honey... if your race didn't vote 95% in lock step with Democrats you could have "black" representation.

A 6-0 map would not be that difficult and would definitely be more faithful to having regularly shaped districts. The bottom line is our legislators don’t have the balls to do it.

It's definitely going to happen. They are digging the hole by continuing to talk about race.

I watched some testimony earlier and it was a form of torture. I had to stop. The stupidity of some of the questions and commentary is just too much.

It's funny that all of these opponents are are banging the drum of how shitty Louisiana is about everything (education, life expectancy, etc.). I wonder why that is?

As well as threatening revolution.

"We're not going back!"

I don't think any of these bills re-introduce slavery.

Pretty sure they don't prevent a single registered black voter from voting.

It's not reimposing segregation.

I saw a black lady speaking at a similar assembly in Cook County absolutely lighting up the other blacks there about their dishonesty in this.
