That plea offer included jail time. So today, they added even more charges. She will probably start begging for that original plea deal.

You're right. I misunderstood.

The prosecutor wants 10 months jail time for those that took the plea. Adding money laundering tells me they want much more for Aunt Becky.
What they’re doing is called anchoring. Offer an extreme point of reference (the anchor, like a real estate offer), then whatever is less than that extreme is far more reasonable than it would have been otherwise.
I mean this is how it works everywhere, for all ranges of crimes. So do you think the prosecutor wouldn’t do that when for a high profile case, which are often career propellers, and would have gone straight for some far lower plea that they would be less likely to plea anyways?

quote:we are talking federal prison here. At worst it would have been a month or two in Club Fed followed by home / mansion confinement. But she wanted to fight those charges so now they are going to get serious. The feds tried to let them off easy and they were warned. Screw them.
It's still not worthy of jail time. The forfeited money, bad publicity, plus a fine would be more than enough. This is bullshite.

And the fact that I know those details about Real Housewives is quite pathetic since my wife starts watching them when I'm planning on being busy with something else.
I used to get into that stuff just a bit, but years ago. I still say that "Survivor" was a fairly unique show when it started circa 2000. It was a bit of a rip-off of an old MTV show called "Real World," but the outdoor locations made it different for me. Funny thing, but the first season of Survivor everybody was thinking that the person with the best "outdoor skills" would win, but it didn't take long to realize that it would come down to who had the best interpersonal skills. After all, the #1 priority was to avoid being voted off the island every week. Nobody cared who killed the most spiders and snakes.
Watched that about 3 seasons and got tired of it. We did watch American Idol some, and the wife likes DWTS.
But we really aren't television people. I have to confess that I stay on the internet as much as millenials do. I despise the people who control Google/YouTube, but I still have to say that YouTube is my favorite destination on the internet. If you can learn who the knowledgeable people are, YT is a great place to get news and information, get some health and nutrition information, and even some good entertainment from years gone by. Just listened to "Cotton Fields" from CCR about 20 minutes ago.
