The organization he was a part of doesn't exclusively focus on the rehab of terrorists and the event yesterday wasn't some ex-jihadi convention. To what extent Jack Merritt was involved in the rehab of Usman Khan or any terrorist is unknown.
For what it's worth, it's been reported that some of the people who floored the attacker were ex-cons (not on terrorism-related charges) also attending this conference. Some of them could very well have been the people Merritt worked with.
But hey, don't let me stop you from spewing your half-truths to shite on the guy.

Speculation on your part. His father's sentiments describe perfectly the mindset of people who think being nice and accommodating means people will adopt your own ill-conceived viewpoint. It's a very naive approach to people that have very little respect for anything other than their own ideology.
