But if the truck can get on the sidewalk, do the bollards work anyway?
Bollards should also extend to the sidewalk. The entire entrance should be blocked

Pretty sure they bollards on the sidewalk too. I know they are on the sidewalks on Burbon further down.
Looks like he had just enough room to drive down the street around the cop car.

What would you have done if a truck started driving in the sidewalk into a crowd? Or do you think they should have predicted he was going to drive on the sidewalk?
My God. So many people killed and hurt and y’all just want to bitch and moan about anything that could possible elevate your team. It’s sickening.

Nothing to do with “team”.
It was another example of bureaucratic incompetence.

Who is the genius who decided this time of year was a good time for that work to happen? And sidewalks? Pretty sure there are a lot of balconies with support posts. That would at least slow down a truck. Probably not allow it to go very far either.
Why is anyone excuse making instead of holding people accountable? It’s not like New Orleans has never held a large public event for heavy pedestrian traffic before.
* what about cement barriers evenly spaced out to allow for foot traffic but not vehicles?

The politicians who approved the money to get the city secured for the Super Bowl.

Well, they failed, bigly.

The terrorist drove the truck between the cop car and 20 or so cops standing on the corner. Maybe pull the car up 6-10 feet closer to the building.
Plenty of blame to go around but it's tough to stop a focused criminal on a suicide mission.
You think our federal "leaders" are any better than our New Orleans krewe? They are all the same.

Abbey Gate is proof of that.
