Right now, it's just the GOP who is pissed at him, while the Democrats are sitting back with their popcorn watching everything unfold. Isn't it ironic that Paul can get standing ovations at Berkley while being despised by the GOP establishment, and yet he's the Republican frontrunner for 2016?

The dems I believe are scared of him I believe. He is the only current GOP potential candidate that can attack Hildog/Biden from the left and the right depending on the issue. The right hates him because he isn't playing ball and waiting his turn and speaking out against them.

I think you are mistaken. I think the left is dreaming of a rand-HRC matchup.

Actually in the senate, not a single R voted against it
Senate Roll Call

Lincoln Chafee voted against it and he was a Republican Senator at the time. Check your link again.

You implied all dems had no use for Jeb, a neocon....so let's be clear, the Democratic Party hasn't acted discernibly different than the Republican Party (since 2000) who's foreign policy was greatly influenced by neocons...the only thing that has stopped the current Dem admin from intervening more is the near total rejection by the American people.

There's no doubt that the Democratic party is almost as badly infested with neocons on Capital Hill as the Republican party, but the Democratic base rejects neoconservatism which is why Obama beat Hillary in 2008. If Hillary had voted against the Iraq War, Obama's campaign would have never gotten traction.

I like Rand Paul, but he's got to distance himself from the conspiracy kooks who doomed his father.

For once, just once can we get a candidate like Rand without some jackass conspiracy view? Just once. I'm still going to vote for him....but

How is what he is saying conspiracy theory? You are honestly going to tell me that there were not many people seeing $$$ bills when it came to invading Iraq? THere was this notion in neocon circles that this would reinvent the middle east.

Paul claims Vice President Dick Cheney’s association with Halliburton was the motivation for the Iraq war:
Did he say "the motivating factor" or "a motivating factor"?

That would make a difference, and if it was the latter, I would agree.

I don't see what's conspiratorial about the nature of Paul's accusation. He's not questioning the facts. Cheney did oppose invading in Iraq in 1991, he was the CEO of Halliburton from 1995 to 2000 and he did support invading Iraq in 2003. Paul is questioning Cheney's motives and impugning his character which has nothing to do with conspiracy theories. The conspiracy kooks are the folks who think 9/11 was an inside job.

Similarly, the folks who say that Obama passed the Affordable Care Act because he wants to make the U.S. like Europe are not conspiracy kooks, but the folks who question his citizenship, including many on this board, are indeed conspiracy kooks.

It's not about what Rand is saying. His detractors are starting this war so his supporters will let their crazy flags fly. If the Rand camp gets overrun by his dad's supporters or the Tea Party, he's totally screwed.

I suspect that one of the reasons why Rand slammed Ted Nugent like he did is to let his supporters know that he doesn't approve of that type of language and he doesn't approve of them using it either, lest his critics use it to smear him as an intolerant nutjob. I like Ron Paul, but he was negligent in letting kooks write for his newsletter, and he got tainted because of it. Hopefully Rand won't make that same mistake.

Yep. Also, wasn't Halliburton heavily involved in Clinton's actions in the Balkans as well?
