Beautiful Kentucker. We used to catch them as kids and put them in mason jars. Poke holes in the lid and you'd have a nightlight for a night or two :)

We will. We have a great President who is doing a great job of leadership. This is a fact that even deep down, sniveling prog filth traitors know in the space between their mush filled head if they had a brain.

Here's an uplifting old song that mentions lightning bugs (after the june bug reference) for a nice listen:

We saw something like that at the Kentucky Castle a few years ago. They were in the shrubs along the road to the castle. Must have been thousands of them - looked like you had put Christmas lights on the shrubs. People there said it happens annually but timing depends on temps, soil moisture and other factors. I believe it was around June

That's heartening to hear. Their numbers have been collapsing drastically in recent years.

Lightning bugs, fireflies, whatever you want to call them. Was out on the deck having a smoke and they are lit up everywhere, off in the trees. I think this is the earliest I have ever seen them, and I hope the heat and humidity of summer is coming soon. We'll get past this, I think sooner rather than later.

Here in Missouri I have seen a huge declined of them. I remember when I was a kid there were allover the place and now not so many around any more. I mean in the city and some counties.

All sorts of threatened species are making a resurgence with humans out of the way right now. Hopefully this whole COVID deal will spark a big environmentalist movement

I haven’t seen lightning bugs in years. I sure miss that. They always made me happy. Glad you got to see them.

I haven't, either. I always wondered what happened to them.

Beautiful to see. Reminds me of warm summer evenings as a child runnng through the fields with a mason jar. Those little things we took for granted seem to be sentimental memories as you age.

That Elkmont experience is a special one. I advise anyone who is able, to visit and see this at least once. They are hatching early this year.

Yes, I noticed a few flying around Friday night. I told my wife it seems kind of early, it's usually more like mid to late April before we see them around here. Maybe a sign of an early summer?

If you burn your yard you will have less insects bothering you

Don't accidentally burn more than your yard though
