I'm here with my 15 year old getting a learner permit

There is a black fella at the door asking people if they are registered to vote in Shelby County and trying to register them for the party

On the one hand, I'm annoyed; but I'm sympathetic to his cause, so I'm not complaining

One fella told him "I don't vote, but I really like Trump"

I told him that he should be happy with Trump, better policies than the last 4 presidents

He started talking about weed

I'll trade reduced regs and lower taxes for shitty pot enforcement all day long...

You don't register to vote by party in Alabama.

Omg. Pelham? That place is cancer.

But... your experience sounds pretty neat or at least interesting.

No doubt. If the policies in this country were improved, maybe these people wouldn't need the weed to make them feel better. Gotta focus on better single issues, IMO.

I agree that weed shouldn't be a crime, but feel that the LP has been seriously damaged by allowing themselves to be identified as the "free the weed" party

Lot of other issues are far more important

Yes you do, remember when democrats weren't allowed to vote on the runoff between Strange and Moore?

It's pathetic, really. If they kept to more issues, they might get some traction.

False. Most of us aren't obsessed. I'm in my mid thirties and haven't smoked it since undergrad. We find it absurd the federal government has any say in the matter though. We believe in personal responsibility and accountability. If someone wants to smoke weed, they should be able to without consequence as long as they aren't harming anyone else in the process.

When you register to vote there is no place to choose party on the form. When you vote in primaries there are two ballots, Dem and repub, you may choose either. If you chose repub and there is a runoff like this last election your name on the list would have been marked as voting in the republican primary and you would be allowed to vote.

It's not the issue to lead with if you are trying to recruit people to join the party

No, but it falls under personal liberty which is something to lead with.

My co-worker is a card carrying Libertarian and a college educated black male. I told him he's a political unicorn.

You don't meet many Libertarians. You do however meet a lot of people who SHOULD be Libertarians, but don't affiliate.

Except they put more stress on our already overburdened mental health system and drive intoxicated

If you aren’t flamboyant about it you can smoke what you want anyway.

Just don’t do it driving and you won’t get in trouble if you get pulled over for something else

No lines for a license, not much of a line for tags

I actually renewed my license in Heflin once on the way home from Atlanta

Growing up in Atlanta, I always drove to a smaller office (areas that are now considered part of the city) when ever I had to do anything with the state

I like that Pelham office, it's almost never crowded...
