— Gumbo PAC, the PAC that supports Louisiana Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards, released a pair of attack ads hitting the two Republicans looking to challenge him. The first ad criticizes Eddie Rispone’s business record, calling him a “phony,” and the second ad hits Rep. Ralph Abraham for promising to donate his salary to charity but not doing so (a January report from The Advocate's Tyler Bridges found that he donated his salary during his first term and a spokesperson said he couldn’t continue to do so due to a loss of income).

Here are the ads....

First off about Rispone about hiring illegal aliens, the only way to make sure you don't hire illegal aliens is to completely discriminate against hispanics and other brown looking people and I'm pretty sure that won't fly, especially in court and the relevant regulatory agencies. Also, Rispone has a few thousand employees and probably tens of thousands of former employees in his business. Of course pay disputes are going to happen when you're dealing with that many people.

Second about Abraham, That one was already debunked and vetted a long time ago. Abraham ran for Congress in 2014 promising to give his congressional salary to St. Jude and the Independence Fund, a charity which helps wounded veterans, and did so for his first term in office. Abraham then found out, to his dismay, that congressional rules prohibited him from making a profit at his medical clinic. That meant he couldn’t afford to go without a salary on Capitol Hill, so he abandoned the pledge to donate that salary for his second term.

But he still gave over $300,000 to those two charities.

And there's this statement of support from the owner of Braco construction company who builds houses for St. Jude and took Abraham's donations for it.... Facebook

Remember who JBE's owners are, Get Gordon and One call Morris Bart being two of them, and how much they have invested in their asset. They went to the absolute max in their efforts to defeat Vitter and the tort reform Louisiana desperately needs and they will do the same against Rispone and Abraham and there is no tactic or lie too dishonest and depraved they will refuse.

Note there are several “GOP” state reps and senators who are ambulance chasers

Dumbasses in this state need to research their candidates.

A hell of a lot of people are being termed out of the statehouse this fall and the statehouse is going to look very different next year. It will actually be conservative for a change instead of being stocked with RINOs everywhere.

Biggest examples of that being John Alario and Julie Stokes.

We can thank Vitter for pushing term limits when he was in the statehouse as a rep.

JBE can say whatever he wants but he is one and done. All his commercials he takes merit for were driven by the house and senate and all he did was sign it in.

I've heard that Morris Bart doesn't even live in Louisiana any more. Any truth to it?

My ex-wife's former attorney is one. Will play the whole game when his district is nothing but Livingston parish baws but screws them over by striking down legislation that will hurt his business. God Forbid we be like every other state with a reasonable jury trial threshold.

Thankfully he's term limited.

I haven't seen that manlet in quite some time. He basically charged my ex a ton of money and she really got nothing out of it and ended up firing him for an attorney fresh out of law school. I got the house, more time with the kids, and child support reduced.

He's a shining example of someone who claimed to be conservative but only used his time in the legislature to benefit himself.

What blows my mind, at least down here in Houma, is there are almost exclusively Republican signs in yards, but there are a ton of JBE signs right next to those republican signs.

Politics is a full contact sport. If I'm Abraham I show the 300K to St. Jude, etc and then shut up. If you are explaining, you are losing. Rispone may have a problem given he embraces Trump on immigration if They make too much of it,he can attempt to turn it around.

What? Did you think Gumbo PAC Would not try and protect their investment?

Because there are a ton of idiots in this state that probably don't realize Edwards is a dyed in the wool liberal Democrat.

People in Louisiana would vote for a ham sandwich based on perception rather than reality.

I'm pretty sure you can non-discriminantly ask for some type of evidence of citizenship during the hiring process like a birth certificate or Social Security card. Do it across the board and you're fine.

Also, funny to me you're defending the hiring of illegals

He probably should have looked into this before making his pledge. He's still worth over $12 million and is still bringing in between $88,710 - $218,700 a year in income.

that is because JBE has been very favorable to Terrebonne Parish regarding funding from capital outlay and other sources.
