Her being in the senate confirms everything wrong with this country.

Your better believe that Fleming is negotiating for help to pay down his debt. He had no firewall in NW LA and just eked by up there

I actually thought the same thing. I hope Fleming can pull it off. My sister is in Denham and got stuck with her when it was restricted and she’s done nothing for them. As well, a friend severely damaged by the Smitty’s explosion says she acted poorly about it and even folks that were her friend ditched her. I’ve also read she won’t fight against carbon capture. If those folks in her district want to keep hunting and fishing vs having it ruined with data centers and cc and stolen from them, they’d do best keeping her out. Ouachita Parish isn’t stellar, people should want better.

This country has 200 years of tradition hating monarchs with a baffling enthusiasm for replacing dead politicians with their wives.

Why do you have to? She’s not for our best interests from what I’m reading.

She’s into politics and follows this stuff. And had mentioned sometime back about being redirected into Letlow district and how they feel no care is given to what’s happening there. I think it’s important to hear what is said. That’s all.

We will all "have to" if/when she wins the runoff, unless you want a Democrat in November.

True. That would be a hold nose and vote, at least I’ve seen it put that way.

For what it’s worth, I remember reading an article about her deceased husband Luke about a year ago. The thing that struck me in this article was that she was a major driving force in his political ascendancy and they were very much a team. I could have cared less about her for a long time and it was a one off read from some small publication online, but my mind kept going back to that and it did seem consistent because of her pragmatic style and other factors indicating she knew was she was/is doing.

A lot of men who come into power do get there with the help of their wives/girlfriends before they eventually end up marrying. Anyway, it’s a shame what happened to Luke with their kids and all to consider, but given her professional history and things like that article I think she is genuinely capable.

Need to go back and try and find the article one day. Sometimes those small town publications one can find online give us the best insights to the deeper history.

Rose Long (Huey)
Mary Long (Gillis)
Lindy Boggs (Hale)
Julia Letlow (Luke)

In the last century, 40+ women have succeeded their husbands who died in Federal office in the US. This is nothing new, especially in Louisiana.
