There may be lawsuits, but eminent domain is well settled law.

Arguing over compensation. Not the land.

Depends on what it’s used for.

A barrier to keep out illegal fricks from trafficking young girls, drugs, and murdering American citizens.

Building railroads and interstate highways.

Those would be a good use of eminent domain.

Building a shopping center would be an abhorrent use of eminent domain.

Still do. It depends on why it's used.

Your point is dumb

Of course people are going to sue for compensation for the land that their representatives take ftom them

Especially for a bogus reason

The fact that one’s property can be taken against one’s will and that the only question is one of compensation ... THAT is why the power should be used sparingly.

No - no you don't remember that.

What you may remember is redefining terms and purposefully misinterpreting information to support a conclusion that you want to prevail.

Well, that’s not the only question. There is a standard that has to be met to seize the land.

Why didn't DJT have a sympathetic resident of Texas sue to block the wall, in hopes of getting a favorable ruling from the 5th Circuit?

Because I have no idea... but why wouldn't the fed govt impose an easement on all national border property? Much like states and local govt does with property owners... so yeah you own it, but if we need access you must yield right of way.....

Exactly! I don't even truly own the lot my house sets on, the first 30 ft from the road is all county controlled property for utility easement.

Do not be disingenuous. The standard you reference is distressingly-low (far too law IMO), and 95% or more of eminent domain litigation relates to property values.

You should not seize private land for private development just to increase you tax revenues. For the public good it’s cool. We are not going to build an interstate because Zeke wants to keep the family farm?
