Meanwhile, it's been zero days since Russia issued another nuclear threat.

The New York Post no less. Trump's favorite newspaper.

This is going to be an election issue this month and Musk will become even more of a pariah because of it. Putin will never allow Trump to have this conversation, so Musk's refusal just adds more pressure on a well-cornered, compromised Trump.
quote:

The New York Post editorial board just told Trump to do something useful: make Musk unlock Starlink for Ukrainian operations over Russian territory. Kyiv is asking for 125 miles.
quote:

Musk positioning himself as the guardian of de-escalation while blocking Ukraine from defending itself is not neutrality. A veto over Ukrainian targeting policy.

Trump can fix that with one conversation. The question is whether he wants to.

Current situation in the sloviansk direction per Rybar

Translated from original Russian using iPhone:
quote:

In the Slavic direction, the enemy is counterattacking with the forces of small groups in the area of Rai-Alexandrovka and neighboring Yurkovka. Russian troops hit the concentrations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Slavyansk, Nikolaevka and the east.

Question for Nate. Is this significant?

I don’t see any moves that are hugely significant on this map but it looks like there are major positional battles going on on the approach to sloviansk so I would say that is significant and the outcome of those battles will be hugely significant if not outcome determinative of the entire conflict.

This is a crucial hub for supplying oil to Russian oil refineries, the Druzhba system, as well as toward Ust-Luga and southern Russia.

I agree, I didn’t see much that changed, but I do know Russia has been aggressive in attacking the Southern end of the fortress belt. I was wondering if something big had happened there.

Not that I have seen. They are closing the pockets to the east and west of Kostiantynivka and leveling the front line. I doubt you see an advance on Druzhkiva before spring at the earliest.

A little to the west of Kostiantynivka, Ukraine claims to be advancing in the Drobopillya area (towards Pokrovsk)

Are they telling us that this kind of civilian medical research is being done in Irkutsk, in the wastelands north of Mongolia? Where no university hospital complex nor urban population center exists? Just desert 300 miles from the Chinese border?
quote:

In Russia, a lab technician died from the plague after breaking a test tube. She could have infected hundreds of people. The hospital where she was taken has been closed for quarantine, and about 200 people who may have been in contact with the lab technician have been isolated in a COVID center. The authorities of Irkutsk Oblast are not officially naming the diagnosis.
quote:

Remember how Russian propaganda used to tell us about "combat geese" and "US biolabs"? The news came from where we weren't expecting—from Irkutsk. There, in a state institute, a lab technician simply... smashed a vial of pneumonic plague. Without any NATO, saboteurs, or combat drones with mosquitoes. The girl broke a container with deadly contagion and didn't tell anyone—afraid she'd be stripped of her bonus or get a reprimand! As a result—the girl died, two hundred people are already in quarantine, and doctors are saying that regular plague doesn't kill that fast.

Constant targeting of these launch sites. It's hoped that the new F-7 ballistic missiles are capable of destroying hard targets such as the bunkers located in these sites.
