Here's a major development - the Poles now have their own optical and radar satellite. Considered one of the two or three most powerful weapons in any arsenal, unfettered satellite surveilance puts Polish political power and force projection alongside the most powerful countries in the world. An interpretive ability will complement this soon as will already-established signals intelligence.
And guess who also benefits...

Poland's prime minister Donald Tusk issued a satellite picture which was produced by a Polish satellite.
Poland has recently launched its first sovereign military reconnaissance satellite system, featuring the PIAST (Polish ImAging SaTellites) constellation (optical) and the MikroSAR (radar), marking a significant leap from data consumer to independent provider, enabling real-time, all-weather surveillance for defense and state security, with full national control.
This satellite system is also supporting Ukraine in its defense against the Russian invasion.

Oleh Pavliuk, Alona Mazurenko — 9 December, 20:41
The United States has given Ukraine days to respond to the latest version of the "peace deal" being discussed with Kyiv and Moscow.
Source: Financial Times, citing sources familiar with the matter, as reported by European Pravda
Details: According to the FT's sources, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told European leaders that he was urged to make a swift decision on the peace deal during a difficult conversation with Donald Trump's envoys on Saturday.
According to the FT, the Ukrainian leader has "days" to respond to the proposed "peace deal".
The sources said Zelenskyy told the Americans that he needs time to consult with Ukraine's European allies regarding the deal.
Trump hopes to finalise the agreement "by Christmas", a source familiar with the timeline offered to Kyiv told the FT.
One Western official described the Ukrainian side as "being stuck between demands on territory they can't accept and a US side they can't reject".

How long does Russia have?

This is big because this allows the Ukrainians to get their information and intelligence from someone other than the US, and from someone who has a much, much more aligned picture on the war with the Ukraine.
With the US no longer providing any real aid to the Ukrainians and only selling them weapons, if the Ukrainians find another source for satellite imagery - even if it's not as good - then the US will hold very little leverage over the Ukrainians when it comes to peace talks.

...aaaand the Russians have another plane crash because it's old and doesn't work. This time it's an AN-22, believe by many to be the actual last working one of the type:
Russian AN-22 crashes, crew presumed dead

Fortunately for her, it is not a beauty contest! Her sense of history is good though.

Ukraine is quietly losing Siversk

That's a great map.
Can you do me a favor? Can you 'save' it and we'll compare this picture to one a year from now? Let's see how the fight over this town goes.
Awesome.

So, an American by the name of a Russell 'Texas' Bentley immigrated to Russia to help them fight the Ukrainians.
The Russians have jailed four of their soldiers for torturing him and killing him and then they hid the bodies in a car trunk, blew it up with TNT, and then burned the remains:
Russians torture and kill an American who came to help them.
RIP, Russell. Just because you're an idiot doesn't mean something like this should happen to you.
Hey, BTW.....
Is TexAg still around here? You here Russ- I mean, Aggie?

What a complete buffoon you are. This is from The Kyiv Independent:

Siversk is a small city (pre war population of about 10,000) but plays an important role in Ukraine’s defense of northern Donetsk Oblast. It helps shield the larger urban cluster of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk to the west, which anchor Ukraine’s defensive “fortress belt” in Donetsk. Military analysts say that if Russia consolidates gains around Siversk, it could increase pressure on that defensive line by opening up new avenues of attack
Posted on 12/9/25 at 10:39 pm to T1gerNate
Siversk was an early goal of Russia as it tried to take it from the north then again twice by crossing a river which all failed miserably in the Spring of 2022. Each of those three columns were chopped up and blown to smithereens. The first as it advanced down a valley was attacked from high ground either side. The two river crossing were shelled with artillery either as as the first vehicles hit dry land with the rest dying in the river. The river is shallow enough to use snorkels on tanks and other armored vehicles.
By taking this city back then would have cut off all of Ukraine's forces on the eastern front with a like movement from the south to encircle most of Ukraine's then active forces and weapons.
That is when and why Siversk was very important..

The gist of that tank assessment is that Russian tanks are inferior to any western tank, Russian tanks are inferior to Russian tanks when the superior Russian tanks are crewed by Ukrainians.

Although we didn't get the bavovna videos, last week's strike on Rosneft's Syzran refinery shut it down completely. That's another 90,000bpd of lost capacity. Repairs expected to last a month or more. The term "or more" is a tip of the hat to Russian workers during December. There's nothing wrong with vodka production in Russia.

Bingo. A Ukrainian drone strike on December 5 shut down Russia’s Syzran oil refinery, according to Reuters. The attack hit the CDU-6 distillation unit, the same one damaged in August, and repairs could take up to a month. Syzran, owned by Rosneft, processes about 90,000 barrels per day.
