Just designate districts by latitude and longitude. It would provide representation similar to the electoral college where urban areas don't dominate rural areas.

It was always destined to be a circus. The Black Caucus isn’t happy with one gerrymandered district guaranteeing one minority seat, regardless of the quality of the candidates running, they want two.

It will never be enough. And yes, as a body, you’d be hard pressed to find a lazier bunch.

Probably only a handful of times that something succinct has ever been spoken in that Legislature. That was one of them .

Am I the only one who had the Stones’ song pop in his head when reading it?

If the black population is dispersed across the state in a wide manner, it is kind of hard to get a district of roughly a million people which is over 50% black.

At least one side, and probably both sides, believe the only way to get a black legislator (or congressman, or justice, etc) elected is via a MM district.

This is a sad indictment upon us in 2022. All of us.

A black man should not be elected because he is black. Nor should he not be elected because he is black.

Is Barry contemplating a run for Congress. If so, then he would definitely benefit from being the champion of this proposed second minority district as it encompasses the area he resides.

Is this the same Rep Ivey that wanted to raise the gas tax to pay for roads?

He said raising taxes was the only way to get anything done in Louisiana!

He believes we are under taxed!
