Of course it is. I thought this was common knowledge. Only other state that comes close to being as big of a shite show is Illinois.

Poverty: 20.2% (2nd highest)
The report notes many of worst managed states have low budgets, and Louisiana is no different. The state collects the equivalent of $2,071 per person in tax revenue per year compared to the average of $2,821 that other state collect.

The burden is on too few people is the problem. The productive people are being fleeced for a bullshite government which panders to keep people in poverty.

The answer to the problem is always the same. “If we only had more $$$!”

Yep, and it really doesn't matter who is in charge... It is never a "spending" problem, always a "revenue" problem... It is the same on the local, state, and federal level, it just gets exponentially worse as you progress in the overall size and reach of the particular entity...

If you look at it as a percent of average income or state GDP, the Louisiana is overtaxed. We do every everything wrong. Our local and state governments are looked on as jobs programs not service organizations.

We tax income which discourages legal income. We have the highest sales tax in the country.

The state has been talking about diversifying the state economy in order not to depend solely on oil and gas production for 40 years. in failing to do so we have driven our best and brightest away to smarter places like Texas.

We elect liberal fools like John Bel Edwards, who couldn't manage a snow ball stand.

All of this is possible because the people of this state largely just don't care. Just throw me something Mister.

The problem is that the wealthy/powerful in Louisiana are not progressive in how they invest private and public funds. People in Louisiana don't like change. However, you have to adapt to survive in the modern world.

What sinks in is that you are quite apparently racist to the core.

Most of the productive people left for Houston, Dallas and Atlanta...the State of LA squandered its massive resource advantage. It could have been TX, but much of the wealth was stolen. It's a criminal shame that the legislature has never taken the Long's stolen oil and gas royalties from them.

Best run...notice anything they have in common?

Minnesota
Utah
Iowa
Oregon
Washington
Nebraska
North Dakota
Idaho
Colorado
Hawaii

ETA: the methodology really has very little to do with how well they are run, but is more focused on economic stability issues such as unemployment, income, migration etc. This suggests that states with the strongest economies are the best run by government suggesting government is to blame if the economy is bad, or to be credited if the economy is good.

I won't, but history does show a certain political party has run just about every aspect of the state for the VAST majority of its existence.

Yeah, it's not the crooked politicians that waste everyone's money through their cronyism. It's the rich people's fault. What clown.

Yep... and I'm one of them. I used to return every year around Veterans Day. Would bring friends and their families for a long weekend in NOLA. Catch the LSU or Saints game, depending on which were playing at home. Shut that down when the statues came down.
