That in turn means Koko was smarter than 100% of the teeth-gnashing, wild-eyed libs anywhere.

To be fair: while this is kind of of ‘interest’ piece and I’m perfectly glad that it was posted, I don’t really care much at all.

I gotta agree with the sentiment. It affects me none at all (directly or emotionally)
To be clear, I do not always agree with your viewpoints, but you strike me as someone who WOULD be interested in discussing the philosophical implications of the studies on Koko’s language development and possible sentience. What do they say to us about legal rights and (more broadly) what it might mean to be human?

I cannot say the same of all posters on this forum. Many simply lack that level of curiosity or interest in abstract thought.

in evaluating the development of intelligence and perhaps what it means to be sentient.

This term came up last week IRL. I do not hunt. But I don't have a problem with hunters. One of my friends at the gym has been hunting wild hogs at night on the side to make a few extra bucks.

He insists on bragging about how he 'shot a big one right through the neck' to one of the girls in the gym.

Her: 'Why don't you just leave them alone.'
Him: 'Would you leave a roach alone in your house?'
Me: 'That's not a good analogy, Jim'
Him: 'Why not?'
Me: 'Because hogs are sentient and roaches are not.'
Him: 'Whats that mean?'

Animal rights is an interesting philosophical debate.

So smug, so pompous. 40,000 post on this forum..... something tells me this is not the only one. That is a lot of free time. One wonders what your real world production level is.

Typical leftist,,, what have you accomplished in life? What is your standard of living? Who have you actually helped? How are those bank and retirement accounts looking?

PS - all rhetorical.. We all already know the answer.

But here is what you don't understand, most of us on this side.... have far more impressive answers..... to ALL of the questions I posed to you.

frick off and get back to posting.

As you know, there are multiple definitions of the term. I tend to use it most-often in the context of “possessing human-like intelligence or self-awareness.”

Koko. Maybe

Boar? Not so much

This is really going to grind your gears

I work for a state gov and do environmental work. Mostly regulatory in nature. My production level is whatever it needs to be to get the job done. I'm doing fine, thanks for asking, and am enjoying a fairly recent promotion.

If you want to talk about your feelings I'm here for ya pal. I'm dealing with the grief over losing koko just like you are.

Humans treat animals like shite in general but the emotional types need to realize that a decent sized predator gives zero shits about attacking you and snacking on your entrails while you are still alive.

You say that like somehow you don't think you are included in the coat wearers category. You are.
