Let me be clear, I find it abhorrent and evil but if you had asked me before this horrible attack if I thought it was a conservative view for people to lose their jobs for their words outside of work, I would have it was not a conservative view.
If you owned a preschool and the guy you hired to be the assistant manager was interviewed on local TV - as a private citizen and on his own time - as the spokesperson for the local chapter of NAMBLA, you'd not fire him?

I don’t know if Kimmel will sue but Carr at least opened the door on this with his public statements.

This feels like the if a 10 year old girl got pregnant would you allow her to get an abortion question.
What you are presenting is a situation where a daycare worker is advocating for the abuse of children which is a crime. If you find out that person is a member of that group, on tv or not, then yes you should remove that person from the environment.
You win, I'll concede the point to you.
I now think that employers should be able to fire anyone at any time for any reason.
If an atheist employer finds our you go to church, fired.
If a pro-vaccine employer finds out you are not vaccinated, fired.
If an employer finds out you support his alma mater's rival, fired.
As you can see, the list is virtually limitless.

Yeah, it sort of cuts to the heart of the matter.
The point is there is a line for you, just like there's a line for the "conservatives" you've been surprised by in this thread.
For the record, I think it's the public asset (the ABC license) part of this situation that changes things for many conservatives.

I wouldn't care if his rights were being violated. He's a vile subhuman piece of shart.

The Libtard’s aren't familiar with the term being held accountable. When you work for and get paid by a company there is always a code of conduct in the contract. If his first amendment rights were violated the government would be going after him and not his employer
