(Better not extend shelter in place! )

ATLANTA — Gov. Kemp and state leaders are extending the public health state of emergency that went into effect in March.

The original order would have ended Monday, but Kemp’s office said it is now extended until May 13.
“This measure will allow us to continue to deploy resources to communities in need, lend support to frontline medical providers, and keep preparing as we brace for potential patient surge in our healthcare facilities," Kemp said. “We deeply appreciate the hard work of Georgians who are sheltering in place, using social distancing, and helping us flatten the curve. We are in this fight together.”

The extension only applies to the state of emergency at this time.
The governor’s staff told Channel 2's Dave Huddleston the shelter-in-place is a separate order, but an “extension is likely.”

Under the extension, the Georgia General Assembly will no longer request a special legislative session for April 15. Channel 2 Action News has reached out to the secretary of state’s office about Georgia’s primary.
"The entirety of our state government is working to protect the health and safety of our citizens, and I appreciate the work of our state personnel and first responders during this challenging time,” said Speaker David Ralston. “While we have difficult days ahead, we continue to coordinate with both local and federal partners in responding to needs as they arise. As Georgians, we will persevere and emerge stronger on the other side.”

Fox 5 is saying the SIP will be extended, too. State of Emergency is one thing, but the SIP is asinine.

This guy is starting to wear on my nerves. The shelter in place crap needs to end ASAP. Wonder if he takes stock tips from Loeffler?

He's still better than the alternative we had in Gap-Toothed Mammy, but yeah, I'm not impressed with his performance to this point.

I agree that he is better than the gap... .BUT is there anyone viable that can run against these goofballs. I want to see all these shits flipped out of the lap of luxury at the next possible election for each of them.

He can always change his mind and lift the shelter order. If the numbers come down he might do so.

Now that the left has established this is a race issue, I'm afraid not.

If he extends shelter in place, it’s going to be grossly ignored. Things are trending that way now, at least in rural Georgia.

I went out yesterday to the grocery store which is 2 miles from the house. I saw 4 different sheriff cars on the road. I have no clue where they were going, they were not together, and actually appeared to just be increasing rounds.

of course, there were 4 trucks at the gas station that were filling up their boats... but no one was getting poked.

I agree, was just pointing out that in his remarks he was praising shelter in place, so more than likely he will extend it...

Governor Mee Maw over here said this week and next will be the worst weeks in Alabama... I call bullshite on that because the weeks of 11/9/19 and 11/30/19 sucked some serious arse...

Casey Cagle was the previous Lt Gov and heavy favorite to win the GOP nomination for Governor until he was torpedoed by some secret recordings made by another GOP candidate, nothing salacious just political policy stuff.
I have no doubt after what Kemp has done the past two years that Cagle would have been infinitely better as Governor.

Edwards isn't going to sit idly by and let Georgia get more federal aid than him. I expect Edwards to double down to June.
