What I see when I look at that knife is that the description of the gaping wound in the victim's chest is that it is over 2" in length.
The blade is only between 5/8"-3/4" in width.
This means when Karmelo stabbed him in an uppercut manner, he didn't just poke his knife in. He added emphasis and once the blade was in, he cut upwards to make it the fatal cut it was.
