i was too my whole life. until trump. are you a right wing indy or left wing indy. indy just means you have no party.

being an INDy does not automatically mean you are a moderate. this is a fallacy that needs to die.

i switched to GOP so i could vote trump in primaries.

Did you care to address the post at all or just pat yourself on the back for being a quote: Registered Independent ? Im sure we would all be very interested in your opinion.

What post ? You mean the OP ? It was clearly stated that he was looking for the opinions of ‘resident democrats’ and since I’m not one of those, how can i answer his question ?

How many Democrats do you think actually post here? 6,12….

Now ask yourself how many moon bat liberals post here. 3,6….

Not much to go on.

Based on your original feedback I clarified “resident democrat” means “Kamala voter”. So IF that’s you, which I’m not implying it is, feel free to answer, please.

Id say im an Independent who leans left on social issues (most not ALL) and right on fiscal issues .. usually .

Not automatically, true- but most of the time i think it does indicate that someone is Moderate .. i myself consider myself ‘a la carte’ when it comes to voting; i like to pick and choose based on which issue or which candidate is on the ballot … if facts change and if circumstances change , i reserve the right to change my mind.. i will be god dammed if anyone tries to label me or put me into a neat little box politically .

My observation is that there are many more Kamala voters than 6 or 12.

The Democrat campaign is pretty simple.

She's not Trump.

That's it. That's the campaign. And it may very well convince a majority of swing voters.

Yep.

In fact, any time Harris spends talking about her own policies will not just be wasted effort for her campaign, but create a headwind.

If a debate happens (and I'm not convinced it will yet) she'll only mention her own views briefly as a stepping off point to attack Trump's views.

There's two reasons for that. First... attack campaigning works. It's mostly what Trump has done and he does it well. While the other GOP nominees in 2016 were trying to talk about their policies, Trump was calling them Sleepy Jeb and little Marco and Lying Ted and Horse Face Carly. It's easier to convince someone to vote against someone than for someone.

Second... Harris has training in it. That's effectively what prosecutors do. She's not particularly good at articularing policy, but that really isn't that important. Trump and Biden both suck at doing that. Clinton was good at it, and look what that got her. A close win in the primaries over a candidate who isn't even part of the party, and a loss to Trump in the general. People don't like Policy Wonks most of the time. It's better to be good at attacking your opponents than explaining policy.

It's a little sad that's true, but it is most definitely true.

Good, im glad to see that you’re not implying that- b/c we literally JUST had a change at the top of the ticket of one of the two major political parties like 2 or 3 days ago, and i think there’s still like 4 or 5 months to go until the Presidential election- so no, i definitely wouldn’t classify myself as a “Kamala voter” so I can’t really help you with the question in the OP .

Why would anyone waste their time doing this though? Someone will win and our lives won’t change much. It’s going to be ok.

I disagree.

There are 3 types of independent voters.

Those who are moderate like you talk about.

Those who are more liberal than the democratic party (Green Party types). Those who are more conservative than the republican party (Libertarian types).

There are more Libertarians than Green party folks. The 1.8 million Libertarian voters in the last election weren't moderates, nor where the libertarian supporters who voted for Trump.

The 400K Green party voters weren't moderate either. Nor were the Green party supporters who voted for Biden.

There was almost no crossover from Libertarian to Democrat or vice versa. Same goes for Green to GOP.

You’re the second person within this two page thread to call me a “liar”… if you need a reason why i dont frequent this place, or check in more than maybe a couple times a month- then look no further than that .

I changed my registration from Republican to Independent following the 2020 election. Simply because of the way the Republican party abandoned any effort to get answers for its constituents to the election interference allegations.

There are still way too many Washington Republicans participating in the same self-enrichment as the Democrats. Plenty (R)s part of the swamp. Nothing in my social or policy belief systems changed when I switched.

History? My life isn’t dictated by who occupies the White House. My life hasn’t radically changed because of any presidential election. How has yours?

. My bank account disagrees with you, especially when u buy groceries. I make more money than I ever have (I’m literally just middle class) and it feels like I really don’t make much more than what I did years ago because of inflation.
