I'm all for locking up people who harm others. I also want to make sure we got the right guy. And they have the right to go free once they pay their debt to society.
He could also point out that he gave us the First Step Act. "I want to lock up murderers. Kamala wants to let murderers go free and lock up potheads."

I agree with you, and have made that argument.
The most knee-jerk response is trying to distinguish Trump's prosecutions as "federal" as opposed to the more noble state variety.
Since Kamala was a state-level prosecutor, they can't attempt to use this meme.

I don’t think you know which positions you actually hold. You’re just doing what you do. You just word salad your way around all sides of an argument so that even when you’re wrong, you can still claim that you’re right.

JD has answered this question. He explained himself. You absolutely do not have to be satisfied with the answer. You don’t have to accept it. I don’t care. Kamala has taken no hard questions and hasn’t answered anything. The entire media is protecting her except maybe Fox News and some podcasts. You can dislike Trump, but don’t ever accuse him of being afraid to put himself in front of people who will attack him. If Kamala wants to be president she shouldn’t be able to hide from all questions while people defend her. It seems right now the presidency is vacant and nobody is talking about it. No interviews or press conferences. Nothing.

After researching her statements and history, it is clear she never actually proposed “defunding” the police. . She did suggest that significant reform was needed.
