EKG, is there any video or a reasonably-detailed description of what happened?

For instance, were these people pushing/shoving, or were they just running their mouths and/or waiving placards?

I ask because I suspect it was the latter, and I am wondering what a number of posters contend that his protective detail should have done.

Again, interrupting a nice steak dinner (esp. at Morton's) SHOULD be a crime, but I don't know that it IS a crime in DC.

Not sure section 1507 would cover it. Does one "occupy" a restaurant for purposes of that statute? Does section 1507 create some sort of moving "no protest" bubble that follows a judge, juror, witness or court officer wherever he goes?

Look forward to the years of investigations and legal proceedings to hold these people accountable. The televised Congressional hearings should be good.

frick these people.

I despise Pelosi but if she’s eating dinner at a steakhouse, I’ll buy her a round of double Taaka and just say I did my part.

These people don’t know social boundaries and it’s stupidity. They are not THAT angry at abortion. They’re angry at God for making them losers in life.

None of them could afford to eat at Morton's. That's what they're really mad about.

I haven’t seen anything, Hank. But to be honest, I’ve stopped looking. The majority of websites posting about the incident seem to be disgruntled, progressive blogs and news sources. I’m not interested in providing any traffic to most of those sites.

This is the latest though, from Newsweek. I am pasting here so people don’t have to click through to the website, should they choose not to do so:

LINK ] Morton's Restaurant Defending Kavanaugh Leads to Spike in Fake Reservations

quote:

Thousands of people have been making fake reservations at Morton's steakhouse after the restaurant defended conservative Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade last month.

Abortion rights protesters in D.C. learned that Kavanaugh was having dinner at Morton's and gathered outside the restaurant on Wednesday night, forcing the Supreme Court justice to exit out a back door.

While the court has yet to comment on Kavanaugh's behalf regarding the incident, a representative for Morton's wrote in a statement to Politico: "Honorable Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh and all of our other patrons at the restaurant were unduly harassed by unruly protestors while eating dinner at our Morton's restaurant. Politics, regardless of your side or views, should not trample the freedom at play of the right to congregate and eat dinner. There is a time and place for everything. Disturbing the dinner of all of our customers was an act of selfishness and void of decency."

In response to the restaurant's statement, thousands of people began booking fake reservations at the steakhouse.

Entrepreneur William LeGate, in a thread on Twitter, posted a screenshot of a reservation booking, writing, "One of my followers just DM'd me a screenshot of their confirmation for a party of 8 tonight[.] I have a feeling there will be many empty Morton's this weekend…"

"Morton's Steakhouse DC is now 'fully booked' for tonight… they have dozens of other locations across the country which are rapidly being booked by pro-choice protestors," LeGate wrote in a follow-up tweet.

Others on Twitter began to mock the restaurant and the Supreme Court justice.

One user wrote, "Hate to argue with the esteemed constitutional scholars at Morton's Steakhouse, but the protesters also have the 'right to congregate' or, you know, freedom of assembly."

Another user wrote, "Brett Kavanaugh's right to enjoy a quiet dinner at a pricey steakhouse does not supersede my right to bodily autonomy."

Meh.

Too many excellent choices for unique fine dining in DC to eat at a chain.

As opposed to the esteemed Constitutional scholars who moonlight as Twitter protestors and pseudo-critics on Google?

Fake reservations? Good Lord, those people.

Morton's should just require a credit card for a reservation and run it for $100, subject to credit against that night's bill.

If any of those idiots don't show up and eat, Morton's will get $100 free profit per table.

easy way to stop this BS - require reservations to be secured w/credit card and stipulation of $100 fee for no shows.

Incredible.

Morton’s condemned the actions of the protesters, writing to Politico: “Honorable Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh and all of our other patrons at the restaurant were unduly harassed by unruly protestors while eating dinner at our Morton’s restaurant.”

Wait a minute. WHY were they compelled to write to Politico? Does Politico has "connections"? Shouldn't Morton's be writing do their Mayor? State Senators? Congresscritters? THE PRESIDENT??

Norton's statement (cont):

“Politics, regardless of your side or views, should not trample the freedom at play of the right to congregate and eat dinner,” the statement continued. “There is a time and place for everything."

Ya think??

That this public "statement" even has to be made is beyond disgraceful.

DC LE wouldn't or cpuldn't have been ordered to STAND DOWN in this case...would they? This SAME stand down action and harassment would have been allowed -- even had the person been Nanzi, right?

Dems sure know how to celebrate "Love" and Tolerance.

It’s counterproductive, for sure.
Morton’s will also receive reservations from people supporting them.
This band of miscreants is providing free advertising to the restaurant.

I spent two weeks working on a big document production outside Baltimore one time. Ate about half my dinners in DC and about half in Baltimore.

Amazing options available both places.
