All he said was that it's odd that the media hasn't investigated why Ted Cruz's communist father was with Lee Harvey Oswald. How is that a lie?

How is it dishonest? The media reported Fred Trump attended a Klan rally in 1926, establishing precedent to chase absurd conspiracies of the parents of a presidential candidate

I find it strange you would justify him doing it because the dishonest media did it, it's taking absurdity to another level to act like it's honest.

It doesn't bother people so much. It's pointed out as an example of a lie because it's one of the ones that is easily shown to be a lie, with no room for the typical wiggling.
If someone is so nuts he will lie at a press conference about a thing that a third grader with an iPhone can disprove in 30 seconds, it says something about his character for truthfulness in general.
