Honestly, I hate all of the silly solar panels they stuck up on every utility pole and the sudden need to take over large parcels of land for solar arrays.
But I am not sure that "burger technology" that is mentioned will become viable some day. The labor cost of producing a burger has actually declined significantly over the last few decades, and it is a freaking burger. The soda machines seem to work nicely though, but I am not sure if they are more about consistency vs labor cost savings.
I think that the real labor savings could be done through the ordering process. I can bet that almost everyone except grandparents would prefer to order via a touch screen.

Actually, at fast food, it's payment that slows thing down - I don't mind talking to a (competent) person to make sure the order is input correctly - I might not be an expert at a particularly brand, but the person at the register should be. I think a payment fob you can swipe (like fastpay at gas pumps) would be the most efficient improvement there.
Ditto for casual dining restaurants - I guess I don't eat out enough, but Chili's is now using a "pay at the table" system that is the bee's knees - as soon as I'm ready, I just swipe, set the gratuity and boom - done. Takes seconds. All casual dining should go to this model - immediately.

Of course it is. There are blue collar field workers who put in 8+ hours of manual labor a day that don't make $15.00 per hour.

I was thinking about that the other day. What about an app for your cell phone - you can store "favorites" . Alter the queue system so when you're order is ready you drive up to the window.

I'd like McDonalds to install this in a few select locations where the workers are demanding $15/hour.

The teenagers aren't the ones demanding higher wages. This is a temp job until they graduate.
The real problem are the grown arse 30 year old adults who think flipping burgers should provide a wage suitable for raising a family.

I like the way you think - order on the way there. Pick up (confirm order is accurate) and at a drive through - if robots are making the food, you could run a McDonalds' "Express" with 2 people.
You could be a hell of a lot more selective about those 2 people, based on work ethic - you could run 3 shifts with a total staff of about 10 people - half of whom would be management types.
