Surprisingly we had a good time. We found some things to bond on (senior execs that dont know shite about software but want to micromanage us). I invited him to dinner while im on travel since we just got assigned to a large project together. Expected the worst. I learned that if you avoid politics common ground is possible.

Sadly we are on a poli forum so itll be a bit harder for us eh?

May the downvotes commence for sharing an anecdote.

It’s almost like normal people don’t let political opinions ruin their relationships with others in real life.

I tried to hook up with you when I was in DC. You stiffed me to go to Louisiana and visit your family (like they are more important than me).

Is it really so unusual for you to interact in real life with someone who thinks different than you politically that you felt like you had to start a thread about it?

Nah of course not. Not my first Trump friend... Especially on travel with military. Some hyperbole is reasonable in writing

This guy is kind of a douche about his politics at the office. He is the only person i work with who talks about who he voted for.

Is it really feasible that 50% of us are all walking around with honestly that drastic of differences in their day to day views? Isn't it much more likely that about 80% of us are basically the same? We want for our families, and don't seek to harm others. Pretty simple really.
