Lol Are you really suggesting Gates has nothing? His knowledge is the entire defense strategy.

That's 928 total guilty, braniac.

Don't forget the TDS influence here as well.

That’s news to me and about 25 others who scurried out of here like rats on a sinking ship,” Judge Ellis shot back.
Was that in presence of the jury?

Don't bother. Juice knows more about putting on evidence than a former prosecutor (bbonds).

I forgot a not. Based on trump's previous action, that is totally cool.

AUSA said it was to speed the trial along.

They bluffed the defense into making their whole case about Gates

you act like this is some brilliant strategy but if Gates doesn't testify, Manafort's attorneys have an "empty chair" to point at

I'm suggesting Gates has no evidence valuable to the Prosecution. If he did, they would call him.

Why not just call Gates?

Well no, your assertion is retarded. A litigator wouldn't leave importantchips on the table because he thinks he has enough. Especially in a case like this. Do you know the standard for criminal convictions?

So you don't think this trial could possibly be the result of an overzealous prosecution?

I think the feds might have taken a gamble here to get Manafort to flip. Either look bad by dropping the charges or attempt to save face by going forward with trial?

Why not, if he doesn't need him?

but they do need him

he's the guy who validates all their documentation against Manafort. who else had that kind of access to the inner-workings of this enterprise?

make no mistake, i think Manafort is guilty as all hell, but Gates is the guy who seals that win. they MAY not need him, but no attorney worth an ounce of quality will make the assumption that they can win without their literal key witness

Is this the venue were Manafort can make the case that Mueller's prosecution is unconstitutional via the appointments clause?

Well, if he doesn't testify the jury will never know what he knows.

If the entire defense strategy was to debunk the testimony of the KEY witness and the KEY witness doesn't testify, that sounds like a pretty damn good strategy to me.
