Jose Antonio Ibarra was in the country illegally, NewsNation correspondent @AliBradleyTV reports.
Ibarra is charged with killing Laken Riley at the University of Georgia.
He came from Venezuela and crossed in September of 2022 into El Paso, according to Bradley.

If the border also wasn't a gateway for fentanyl, two of my family members would still be alive. One of my nieces and a cousin's daughter each died of fentanyl OD after taking JUST ONE PILL! Not excusing drug use by any means, but no one should expect to die from taking one pill.
The amount of that poison that floods across the border on a daily basis should be reason enough to declare an emergency and shut it down.

This might be the most hateful thing I have read on this forum filled with such hate. You have no idea who she voted for or anything other than what you have read in the news.
First and foremost: SHE DID NOTHING TO DESERVE THIS!!!! This was the purely evil act of a man intent on who knows what. Can you have a little compassion for a young woman who was just out for a run who wound up terrified and fighting someone bigger and more powerful than her - fighting for her life.
And if we all got what we deserved, probably none of us would be alive today. We all have good and bad in us, but most of us don’t act on the bad…. Try to show some compassion for others. You would feel better about yourself and the world around you.

Yes, Athens is more liberal than the majority of Ga, however, the mayor and elected officials very much care about what happens in this town! Government housing hardly exists here… the majority of housing is way overpriced student housing that apparently the parents of students here have no problem paying for…. It’s the local town folks who’ve lived here for decades that are having a difficult time affording housing. The mayor and city leaders very much care about businesses here and the safely of residents.
Do you live in Athens? If not, don’t generalize about a place you do not experience on a daily basis. I have lived here over 30 years and I have had full time jobs the entire time here and if I weren’t so lucky with the rental housing that I do have I might be homeless right now. Please don’t judge what you don’t know. It just makes you look hateful.

Oh my God! Why so damn hateful? You have made a huge generalization about a select few democrats in power… might I remind you that both political parties have truly evil people that wind up in power. It’s very unfortunate that the good doesn’t rise to the top and take control. I urge you to please stop spewing hatred over a group of people that contains millions of amazing wonderful citizens who might just care about you and your freedoms more than they care about themselves…
